  • I bought it and returned it a week later after trying to confirm that it was the camera and not me. It has features that make it SEEM appealing but… the touch screen is all so easily inadvertently touched and BOINK you’re out of picture taking mode into another atmosphere. DEFINITELY NOT user friendly. Very awkward to hold without messing up your mode. And if that were not enough, the pictures really are NOT very good at all. I can’t believe it’s a Nikon. Trust me on this: If you it, don’t throw away the packaging or the receipt. Go Obama!

  • * It has OLED, so that conserves battery. Nice.

    * When it came out, it was at $400. Now you can get it for $265..and it’s about 3 months later. Ouch

    * It’s still very thick- the Sony TX1 rules the space for a slim pocket camera. Ouch.

    * It’s slow on the uptake, so it responds slowly when taking photos. Ouch.

    * The lens is recessed, so no fingerprints. Nice.

    * The screen must be touched, so many fingerprints. Ouch.

    * It’s a touchscreen, which is sometimes nice, other times annoying because it responds slowly between menus. Meh.

    * It saves to SD cards, which are quite common and familiar. Nice.

    * The body is mostly metal and comes in a variety of color options. Nice.

    * You have to charge the battery while it is in the camera. Ouch.

Bottom Line: I am going to sell the S70 I have (black/black) because it’s really not what I wanted and with how quickly the price dropped, it’s costing me dearly to be an early adopter. I will probably go with the Sony TX1 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 with 12x optical zoom. They both sell for about $275, so it’s basically a trade and better for what I want out of a camera.

Not sure what all the issues are with photo quality, I found the quality more than acceptable, I love the touch screen, have had no issues whatsoever with selecting any of the icons, have had no issues with holding the camera while taking a photo. I bought this for my daughter and like it so much I am going to buy myself one as well.

    great job Nikon!

  • Cool features, a little expensive compared to other compact digital cameras.

Tried taking lots of pictures but I just can’t get a sharp picture. Lots

of noise on the photos taken. I had to return it back.
